Private Pilot Training
The advantages to completing your initial training in a tailwheel airplane are many. Most notably, a tailwheel airplane requires its pilot to have better stick and rudder skills. This is a skill set often lacking from tricycle gear pilots transitioning to tailwheel flying.
Secondly, you will complete your private pilot training already having a tailwheel endorsement which often requires 10 hours or more of training for tricycle gear pilots transitioning to tailwheel. Once you can fly a tailwheel, transition to tricycle gear is much more simple.
Building tailwheel time will also open the door for more opportunities in different areas of aviation such as banner towing, glider towing, back country flying, aerobatics, aerial application (crop dusting), and many other tailwheel specific opportunities.
Patty Wagstaff Aviation Safety
Regardless of your end goal in aviation, our high quality training conducted under FAR Part 61 will ensure you begin your flying career with a solid foundation of knowledge and skills to prepare you for success in the competitive field of aviation.

Tailwheel Endorsement
Regardless of your experience level, we strongly believe the stick and rudder skills gained by learning to fly tailwheel will carry over into any other airplane you fly. Often able to be completed in 10 hours or less, mastering the skills of tailwheel flying including taxiing, takeoff, and landing in all wind conditions is a huge confidence builder for pilots of all backgrounds.
While an endorsement can typically be signed of in 10 hours or less to meet the requirements of the FAR’s, we have found to become truly comfortable piloting a tailwheel plane in a variety of wind conditions requires 15-20 hours of experience. Our structured tailwheel transition syllabus will help you become a more confident and safe tailwheel pilot.

Commercial Pilot Training
Mastering the more advanced commercial maneuvers in the agile citabria is a fun challenge that will teach you a lot about the fundamentals of flight.
Combining commercial pilot training with a tailwheel endorsement can be a great way to keep flight training exciting as well as set yourself apart in a competitive job market with valuable tailwheel experience.
